James Ensor, the Belgian painter beloved by the counter-culture for his psychedelic use of mask and satire begins a posthumous retrospective for 2024 with three shows in Flanders and Brussels. A visit to the first at the Mu.Zee in Oostende is also a visit to his hometown and an opportunity to see Flemish still life painting from 1830 to 1930.
